http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog Mon, 16 Aug 2010 10:37:57 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.0.1 Tattoo Removal – It Does’n Have To Heart http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/297/tattoo-removal-it-doesn-have-to-heart/ http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/297/tattoo-removal-it-doesn-have-to-heart/#comments Thu, 05 Aug 2010 12:08:36 +0000 Admin http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/?p=297 There are hundreds of reasons why someone would like his or her tattoo removed.  It is estimated that over 10 million Americans have at least on tattoo and about half of them regret it later and want to have it removed.
Some of the reasons for tattoo removal are:

- tattoo is holding you back from getting a job you want
- gang related tattoos (if you are no longer associating yourself with that gang)
- past love and now you have a new special person in your life

those are just most common reasons but as I mentioned earlier there are 100s of other reasons people might have. What ever your reason might be I would suggest you consider all options available to you.

1. Laser Removal

laser tattoo removal

This is the most common method today. This is a process where highly concentrated light breaks the ink into tiny fragments which are than cleared away by your own immune system. It will take more than one session and not only it is painful process but it can be very painful for your pocket. Depending of the tattoo size you might need anywhere from 1 to 10 sessions, each costing you in a range of $200 to $800 per session. Experts in laser tattoo removal therapy say that technology has advanced since its introduction and now scarring is minimal, sometimes even  non-existant, but this can vary depending on the situation.

2. Intense Pulsed Light Therapy or (IPL)

Instead of laser light like in laser therapy, it uses high intensity light in pretty much the same manner. First gel is applied to the skin and then a wand is used to emit pulses of light. This method is less painful than laser therapy and it is said to be more effective. Therefore, it has a heftier price tag, one clinic offering a price of $10 per pulse. Depending on how many pulses per session your tattoo requires, this could add up to a significant amount of money.

3. Do-It-Yourself Cream Removals

Personally I think this is very cheap and effective method of getting rid of your unwanted tattoo. According to (W.T.A.) research only WreckingBalm® System did show significant fading of the tattoos without any pain or damage to the skin.
If you really need a tattoo removed and don’t have the money for surgery, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try it out yourself.

My advice is “think before you get ink”… so you can avoid pain of removal :-)

Speak to you soon,

Mike

How to Get Your First Tattoo http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/215/how-to-get-your-first-tattoo/ http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/215/how-to-get-your-first-tattoo/#comments Tue, 24 Nov 2009 16:36:27 +0000 Admin http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/?p=215 from wikiHow

So you decided to move up from temporary to permanent.

Here’s how to make the big leap.

my1sttattoo

Moving up from temporary to permanent!!!

Steps

  1. Think of a design you want to get.Make sure it is something you feel comfortable showing off, and that you want on your body until you die.
  2. Make a rough sketch of your design. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Tattoo artists are just that: artists. If you can give a good idea of what you want, your artist can really fly with it.
  3. Find the location on your body that you want to put it. Make sure it fits. Not too big, and not too small.
  4. Touch up your design. Smooth out the lines, add a basic color scheme, and make it fit to your desired location.
  5. Find an artist. The recommendation of a friend who has a tattoo you like a lot can help. Consider a few locations that are near where you live. You don’t want to travel too far.
  6. Pick a few and check them out. Make sure the place is clean, and the artists are friendly. You’re going to develop a pseudo-relationship with your artist. So be nice back to them. Ask to see the sterilization records for the equipment, they will be happy to show you.
  7. Choose the artist whose work you like best and tell him or her you want a tattoo. Tell your artist everything you know. What it is, where it’s going, how big, etc.
  8. Negotiate your price. Ask how much it will cost; that way you can get the money the day of the tattoo, or transfer it from account to account, however you want to do it. Once you discuss the tattoo you will usually be asked to leave a deposit ($50 or so) and make an appointment. The deposit goes to the total price of your tattoo, so don’t worry. Leave the rough drawing with them so they can improve upon it, and make it unique, just for you.
  9. When the big day comes, shower well. You don’t want to be smelly for your tattoo. Pay attention to the location you are getting it. The tattoo artist will shave the location where you are getting the tattoo. So you can shave before you go, if you’d like.
  10. When you get there, go over the new and improved picture, and make sure it’s OK. Remember, this is forever inked into your skin. If there’s anything – any little thing – about it that isn’t what you want, stop right there, and let your artist know. You don’t have to have a fit about it, or get panicked. Just say, “Hey, this part right here? I’m not crazy about it. I would like a little more/less….” whatever it is. The artist will probably not get upset or take it personally – after all, s/he is trying to read your mind a little bit, and if it’s not exactly the thing, he or she is a pro who knows it can be easily tweaked. If the artist does get defensive, angry, or belligerent about the changes you want, thank him or her and go elsewhere. You are the one who will wear this image for life, and if the artist isn’t willing to make it wonderful for you, s/he’s not the one for you.
  11. Relax. You are going to be nervous, but calm down as much as you can. The tattoo artist will make sure it doesn’t hurt a lot. When you get in the chair, sing something to yourself in your head, or talk to the artist. Make sure you do everything he/she says, move this, sit back, etc.
  12. Take a final look when it’s finished. Make sure they didn’t miss anything. They’ll be happy to touch it up, if they need to.
  13. Listen to all the care instructions your artist gives you. Tattoo artists know how to take care of tattoos and your skin, so listen well.
  14. Take care of your tattoo as instructed. You’ll have a piece of artwork that you can enjoy forever.

Tips

  • Make sure the tattoo is something you want. You don’t want a neon green and pink butterfly on your arm forever, if you hate butterflies.
  • Make sure to check out the tattoo parlor and artist well. You don’t want some dirtbag giving you a tattoo in some broken down shack.
  • Save! You don’t want to come up short on cash when you go for the tattoo. Bring more than they tell you.
  • Tip! Nothing upsets artists more than people who don’t tip. They don’t make much from the parlor itself, they make their money from tips. Tip by size. A small tattoo should be like a $30 tip. If you get a large one, it should be around $60 or $70.
  • Shower. Being clean is the best way to prepare for the big day, and care for your tattoo. They can get infected, and it’s not pretty.
  • Go temporary before going for the permanent. When you have selected a design and a place (on body) to do the tattoo, get a temporary tattoo for some time and see if you are comfortable with the tattoo. If you feel odd, select another design and a place. This will give maximum satisfaction (and zero worries) when you get it permanent.
  • It’s okay to be nervous!. It’s perfectly normal and natural to feel a few butterflies before you get a tattoo, If your worried about how nervous your going to get then bring a good friend along.

Warnings

  • Remember this is permanent. You can’t just wipe it off. It is there for good. Until you get a cover-up or get it removed (by laser surgery).
  • Everybody handles pain differently. What was painless for your best friend may be the exact opposite for you. Don’t get too deep into the fat/bone/nerve debate over which area is the most or least painful, because every person is different. A simple way to test your tolerance without needles, is to simply pinch yourself. Regardless, do not let pain decide where your tattoo should be placed – pain is temporary and the tattoo is not! If you choose an area known to be painful (like ribs) just be patient through the pain.
  • Remember – don’t drink alcohol, or take drugs before your appointment! Don’t even take painkillers, as they are also blood thinners!
  • Eat well before your appointment. It is a good idea to bring along some water, juice, or a non-messy snack to have handy in case your blood sugar starts to drop. Most tattoo parlors have hard candy around, but it’s good to bring your own just in case, because tattoo artists don’t like their clients passing out in the shop.
  • Skipping out on your appointment will lose your deposit, and most likely the artist won’t want to tattoo you. If you can’t make it, call ahead and tell them so you can make a new appointment on a better day.

Things You’ll Need

  • A design (print one from www.MiamiInkTattooDesigns.com). You can make your own, take one from online, or use on from in-store. The tattoo parlor will usually have designs all over the walls. Remember though, it is considered very rude to copy other’s custom tattoos.
  • Money. You can’t get a free tattoo, unless of course, it’s free tattoo day at the parlor.
  • Courage. You can’t wimp out on your first tattoo. It will hurt, this is a feeling that you have never felt before. Some people love it, and some hate the feeling! But when the tattoo is done, you will be happy that you got it, and will be back for more!

Celebrities and Chinese Tattoos http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/150/celebrities-and-chinese-tattoos/ http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/150/celebrities-and-chinese-tattoos/#comments Wed, 11 Nov 2009 22:24:53 +0000 Admin http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/?p=150 Many celebrities have chosen to put Chinese tattoos on their bodies. Have you ever wondered what they mean?

David Beckham’s Chinese Tattoo

David Beckham's Chinese Tattoo

David Beckham's Chinese Tattoo

It means

“Death and life have determined appointments, riches and honor depend upon heaven.”

It is one of the most meaningful Chinese tattoo I have seen on celebrities. The tattoo was done by one of the best tattoo artists in Hong Kong called Gabe.

Another good translation in English is

“Life and death are decided by fate, wealth and honor are from heaven.”

In fact, this is a well-known saying originating from the Analects, a brilliant book (you can get it from Amazon.com for under a $10) noting the remarks of Confucius.

The characters from top to bottom are:

  1. Life -  Pronounced “xeng” in Mandarin, “sang” in Cantonese.
  2. Death – Pronounced “si” in Mandarin, “sei” in Cantonese.
  3. Has – Pronounced “you” in Mandarin, “yau” in Cantonese.
  4. Fate /Determined appointments – Pronounced “ming” in Mandarin, “ming” in Cantonese.
  5. Riches – Pronounced “fu” in Mandarin, “fu” in Cantonese.
  6. Wealth and Honor -  Pronounced “gui” in Mandarin, “gwai” in Cantonese.
  7. From/depend upon – Pronounced “you” in Mandarin, “yau” in Cantonese.
  8. Heaven – Pronounced “tian” in Mandarin, “tin” in Cantonese.

Cher’s Chinese Tattoo

Even Marcus Camby is one of those celebrities who first displayed prominently kanji tattoos, Cher is definitely the pioneer.

She had her Chinese tattoo done in 1983.

The character on her right arm is pronounced “li” in Mandarin, “lik” in Cantonese. She meant to have it mean “strength”.

It is the Chinese character which usually stands for for power. It is also the first character of a Chinese double character word for strength. It is best to use the double character if one wants to refer to strength. However, many people nowadays mistakenly use the first character only.

Larry Hughes’ Chinese Tattoo

The character means loyalty/loyal. Pronounced “zhong” in Mandarin, “jung” in Cantonese. Larry Hughes said “It’s about loyalty to the game and loyalty to myself.

“I was one of the originators of the Chinese characters,” said Camby, who broke into the NBA in 1996. ” I want to be the best. And I’ve got a lot of love for my family.” But why in Chinese? “I was into a lot of Chinese flicks,” he explains, “a lot of kung fu movies.”

The characters from top to bottom are:

  1. Strive to be the best/ Encourage - Pronounced “mian” in Mandarin, “min” in Cantonese.
  2. Clan – Pronounced “zu” in Mandarin, “juk” in Cantonese.

Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter uniquely combined Greek mythology and Chinese art. His Chinese tattoo is the Chinese tranlation for “Poseidon” – the god of the sea in Greek mythology.

The characters from top to bottom are:

  1. Sea – Pronounced “hai” in Mandarin, “hoi” in Cantonese.
  2. God – Pronounced “shen” in Mandarin, “sun” in Cantonese.

Tattoo Aftercare Do’s and Don’ts… Easy Steps to Follow! http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/100/100/ http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/100/100/#comments Mon, 09 Nov 2009 13:54:39 +0000 Admin http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/?p=100 Since you are already a member of MiamiInkTattooDesigns.com it is easy for you to find tattoo design when you have access to 25,000 beautiful designs…

That’s cool but what to do and not to do once you have it done…

I have tried to list few things below so please read and comment at the end of this article…

What to Do:

  • Leave the tattoo bandaged for a minimum of 3 hours and no longer than 12 hours.
  • Remove bandage under warm running water. If bandage is stuck to the tattoo, gently remove it while under running water, therefore reducing the risk of damaging the tattoo.
  • Once bandage is removed, using an unscented soap, wash the tattoo off well with your hand and warm soapy water.
  • When done washing the tattoo off, gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel and allow the tattoo to air dry for about 5-10 minutes.
  • Apply Curel (Ultra healing/Fragrance free) dry skin lotion to the tattoo 4-6 times a day.
  • The hand lotion can be applied to the tattoo about 3-4 times daily for about 10-14 days or until the tattoo is completely done peeling.
  • Somewhere between 3 and 6 days, the tattoo will start to flake off like tissue paper. Do not pick at or scratch. Let the skin peel naturally. You will notice small pieces of dry skin containing color coming off while using the lotion or washing the tattoo. This is normal- it is just a top layer of dead skin coming off. Your tattoo is not disappearing.

What NOT to Do:

  • Once bandage is completely removed DO NOT rebandage the tattoo.
  • NO direct sunlight on tattoo for first 2-3 weeks.
  • DO NOT pick or scratch tattoo while it is peeling.
  • DO NOT soak the tattoo for 2 weeks. No swimming, baths, hot tubs or saunas for 2 weeks. When tattoo has completely peeled, swimming or soaking is OK.
  • No shaving or waxing area until tattoo is completely healed.
  • DO NOT apply alcohol, Vaseline petroleum jelly or sunblock to fresh tattoo.
  • DO NOT listen to friends or so-called tattoo experts. If you have questions, call or visit the artist that did your tattoo!

Some extra stuff:

  • Once you leave the shop, proper care of your tattoo is your responsibility.
  • Small amounts of color may appear on clothing or sheets for first few days.
  • When tattoo is peeling, color will appear in pieces of dry skin.
  • If the tattoo is in an area where it can be exposed to the air, allow it to breathe. Allowing the tattoo to breathe will help the healing. Your body and oxygen are going to heal the tattoo.
  • If possible, wear loose fitting clothing over tattoo and be careful not to suffocate tattoo with socks or pantyhose.

And please DO NOT ignoring your tattooist listen what he/she has to say they are there to help.

If you want to add something to this article? Write a comment, thank you :-)

How to Get A Virtually Pain-Free Tattoo http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/59/how-to-get-a-virtually-pain-free-tattoo/ http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/59/how-to-get-a-virtually-pain-free-tattoo/#comments Wed, 04 Nov 2009 14:19:39 +0000 Admin http://miamiinktattoodesigns.com/blog/?p=59 I am going to share with you 7 step process  that will give you and your customers Virtually Pain-Free tattoo experience.

Are you Ready?

OK here we go!

Step 1

The first step in getting a tattoo is truly deciding if you really want one. Remember inking is usually permanent and you will have your tat for life! (Choose wisely!)

Step 2

Look at images and decided what you want tattooed and where. Some good old fashion  advice to those getting a first tattoo start with a small image.  You can always add onto it latter. Tattoo removal is very expensive, painful, and not always 100% effective. So use the motto: “Start small and build big.”

Step 3

Make an appointment with your regular health care provider (MD, NP, PA). They know your medical condition best and can advise you if they think that getting inked will negatively impact your health. (There really aren’t condition that fall under this category, but it is better to wise than foolish.)

Step 4

Request from accredited supplier for some “numbing cream” such as Dr.Numb (one I use and recommend). Be clear that your are asking for this medication because you are getting a tattoo. This will help the nurse or physician make a better clinical decision and provide you with the correct amount you may need and instructions on how to use it. (Please note: Most insurances will not cover this numbing medication so you need to take that into consideration. Cost vary but a general rule of thumb is about $50 to $75 per tube which may last for several “small” tats or just be enough for one “big” inking.

Step 5

The “numbing cream” consists of lidocaine (like the numbing medication you get at the dentist) and prilocaine (another type of numbing medication). Remember if you ever had an adverse reaction to these medications NEVER USE THEM FOR TATOOING or any other reason.

Step 6

Apply the numbing as directed by your health care provider. Generally, it is applied in a thick layer as opposed to a cream that is rubbed in and covered with clear plastic wrap with the edges taped around the wrap. This should be done at least one hour before your inking.

Step 7

Remove the dressing and wash away the numbing cream just prior to your inking session letting your tattoo artist know.
